Donn Marc "Smoke" Jean

Donn Marc Jean, 65, also known as Smoke, of Williamsport, passed away Wednesday evening, June 26 2019 at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport surrounded by family.

Born December 8, 1953, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Lewis John and Esther A. (Schuman) Jean.

Donn was a 1972 graduate of Williamsport Area High School. He retired from C&I Boiler as a Safety Supervisor after 20 years of service. Donn was a member of the Harmonia Club where he spent time with friends he considered extended family. He also enjoyed years playing softball for Frankie’s and other local teams. Donn also enjoyed countless years watching his children and oldest grandson play sports. You could find Smoke in his backyard tending to his pepper garden that he so loved canning for his friends and family. He was well known for hosting extravagant cookouts and horse shoe tournaments. You could always count on Donnie to be on the dance floor doing the Twist or Polka. After he and life long friend Joe Janson started Jean & Janson, Donn took pride in raising his children in the home he built in Old Lycoming. Donn will always be remembered for his smile, deep voice, tight knit family and for always being the life of the party.

Surviving are; three children, Kristie “Kris” Dawn Boyer (Aaron), of Montoursville, Danielle Laura Jean, of Cary NC, and Lewis John Jean II (Elyse), of Montoursville; six grandchildren, Jonah Lewis, Nollan John, Peyton Odessa, Odessa Donn, Hank Lewis, and Brennan Lewis; a sister,  Judith K. DeWitt, of Williamsport, former spouse and mother of his children, Janet Houseknecht , of Cary NC, former mother-in-law, Martha J. Lockerman, of Pensacola FL; a brother-in-law Robert Smith, of Dillsburg; two sister-in-law's Judy and Rebecca Jean, both of South Williamsport; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Donn is preceded in death by; two brothers Lewis S. Jean, and Gary L. Jean; and a sister Mary Ellen Smith.

A celebration of life to honor the life of Donn will be held at 7 p.m. Monday July 1, 2019 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home 1914 Memorial Ave, Williamsport. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Wildwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donn’s name to a Veteran’s charity of one’s choice.
