Cynthia I. Hughes, 56, of Cogan Station, met her Lord and Savior, all too soon, on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at UPMC-Susquehanna after a courageous three year battle with cancer.Surviving is her loving husband of 37 years, who kept the faith and never lost hope or left her side, Jeffrey L. Hughes Sr.
Born Jan. 4, 1962, in Williamsport she is a daughter of the late Howard R. Henne and Irene A. (Jones) Henne, of Williamsport.
Cindy was a graduate of Williamsport High School and in the past worked as part of the support staff in the Williamsport Area School District. She also provided care and showed compassion to those who needed assistance in their homes for many years. Above all her greatest role in life was being a mother to her children and MeMe to her grandchildren, who she supported endlessly and loved dearly.
Cindy attended Hepburn Baptist Church and was an avid gardener who loved being in her greenhouse. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and in her earlier years playing pool in different area leagues. Cindy was a great cook and could put on a very impressive Sunday dinner spread, times she cherished being with her family. She was a kind loving person who touched many lives.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are her four children, Jason L. Hughes (Meta), of Treasure Island, Fla., Jeffrey L. (Crystal) Hughes Jr., of Cogan Station, Jennifer P. (Nathan) DiMarco, of Williamsport, and Ian S. (Amy) Andrews, of Trout Run; 10 grandchildren, Autumn, Ashley, Benjamin, Cheyenne, Mason, Liza, Aaliyah, Maddy, Sam and Marissa; one great-grandson, Lincoln Wyatt; two brothers, Howard R. (Gloria) Henne Jr., of South Williamsport, Dale (Kathy) Henne, of Cogan Station; a brother-in-law, Cayce F. Doane, also of Cogan Station; and her beloved fur babies, Dori and Annie.
In addition to her father, Cindy was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela R. Doane.
A memorial service to honor the life of Cindy will be held 4:30 p.m. Thursday, August 16 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday at Knight-Confer.
