Carl E. Lucas

Carl E. “Pap-Pap” Lucas, 93, of Williamsport, passed away Wednesday September 11, 2019, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Jean M. (Mauck) Lucas.

Born January 18, 1926, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Arthur W. and Isabelle (Park) Lucas.

Carl was an Army and Navy veteran and proudly served his country in WWII and the Korean War. After leaving the military he attended Williamsport Area Community College where he received his associate’s degree. Carl worked as a machinist, and finished his working career at M.W. Kellogg. He was a member of various clubs and organizations including the Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion Post 1, the VFW, a local Masonic Lodge, Williamsport Consistory, and was a former member of the Church of the Savior Lutheran. Carl enjoyed camping, was an avid Steelers fan, but most of all loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are; two daughters, Cathy A. Sweeney of Hazleton, and Mary Jo Walker (Stephen) of Williamsport; three grandchildren, Lucas Walker of Las Vegas, NV, Lauren Zehner (Douglas) of Williamsport, and Lacey Walker, currently serving on the U.S.S. McFaul; and a niece, Marge Baney of Burlington, NC.

In addition to his wife and parents, Carl was preceded in death by; a sister, Anna Baney; and a son-in-law Patrick Sweeney.

A funeral service to honor the life of Carl will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 21 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
