Arlene C. Costley, 82, of Linden, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 16, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Chambersburg. Surviving is her husband of 29 years, Keith A. Costley.
Born Oct. 24, 1935, at home in Nippenose Valley, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Margaret (Frederick) Saar.
Arlene was employed many years at Trimtex and later retired from Buckeye Pretzel. She was a member of various local clubs and organizations.
Arlene had a passion for flower gardening and enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her flowers. She and her husband Keith enjoyed playing cards and were setback tournament champions. They also loved to dance and were named the "Best Dancing Couple in Williamsport."
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Sharon L. Shipley and a son, Floyd G. Hessler "Bucky" (Sandy), both of Chambersburg; a grandson, Anthony F. Papouscheck IV "Tony" (Melissa); great-grandchildren, Anthony F. Papouscheck V and Davis Maria-Rose Papouscheck, all of Ocala, Fla.; a brother, Joseph Saar, of Wellsboro; a nephew, Lee Saar (Joyce), of Nisbet; two great-nephews; and close friends, Leonard and Betty Landsky, and Jodie Wells.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Edward Saar; and two sisters, Eleanor Anonie and Emma Steppe.
In keeping with her wishes services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held in Oval Cemetery.
The family has requested if anyone wishes to send flowers, to send potted flowering perennials.
