Amy A. (Davis) Merrick

     Amy A. Merrick, 82, of South Williamsport, passed away, Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, John B. Merrick.

     Born May 27, 1935, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Maynard V. and Mary Margaret (Deffley) Davis.

     Amy was a 1953 graduate of South Williamsport High School. She retired from Stroehmann Bakery after 25 years as a bookkeeper and was co-owner and vice president of Merrick Brother’s Inc.  

     She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to lunch with former coworkers, reading, gardening and spending time at her cabins along the Loyalsock Creek. Most of all Amy loved and cherished spending time with her family.

     Surviving are her children, Daniel L. Merrick, of Montoursville, Lorraine M. O’Lone, of South Williamsport, Connie L. Brophy (Gary), of Rochester, Minn.; six grandchildren, Jesse P. Merrick, Rachel E. Lehman-Merrick, Heidi Stetts, Amanda Harrod (Carroll), Elizabeth Brophy (Jon), and Denise Brophy(Jonathan); a great-granddaughter, Joanna Harrod; and two brothers, Thomas and Jim Davis, both of South Williamsport.

     In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Davis.

     A funeral service to honor the life of Amy will be held 2 p.m. Friday, November 24, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
