Albert Charles "Chuck" Graybill III, 58, of South Williamsport passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 12, 2022 at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport. Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Janice L. "Jan" (Furman) Graybill.
Born Oct. 4, 1963, in Binghamton, N.Y., he was a son of the late Albert Charles Graybill II and Sandra Jean (Signor) Graybill.
Chuck was a 1981 graduate of the Williamsport Area High School. Throughout high school Chuck worked part time at Weis. He later graduated from Barber Styling Institute in Camp Hill and went on to own his own barber shop, The Hair Connection. During the years he was a professional barber he developed deep and lasting friendships with his many clients. He was also previously employed at Axeman Anderson Company and Doc’s Flooring.
Chuck was a member of South Williamsport United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the "High Privates" Civil War reenactors. Chuck’s dream was to serve in the military and to follow in his grandfather’s and father’s footsteps, unfortunately due to a childhood accident he was unable to join. This dream gave him his love for history. He enjoyed researching and collecting military and civil war memorabilia. Chuck enjoyed sharing his love for history in presentations he gave at local schools. Chuck devoted most of his time to primitive style camping and perfecting his survivalist skills. Whenever he was hiking, he was always the trail boss and guide. When Chuck was not hiking, he could be seen around town with one of his dogs who he took everywhere with him.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sisters Ann M. Bowman (Steve) and Michelle L. Hinkal (Brian) both of Williamsport; many nieces and nephews; and his golden retriever, Oz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Michael L. and Matthew W.S. Graybill and a sister Gizelle G. "GiGi" Parker.
A funeral service to honor the life of Chuck will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport with his brother-in-law the Rev. Max Furman officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. A viewing will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
