Harold E. "Skip" Young, 78, of Williamsport, died, Sunday Jan. 5, 2020, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen J. (Keller) Young.
Born July 16, 1941, in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Harold Young and Mildred (Conser) Danley.
Skip was a 1959 graduate of Lock Haven High School, and took night classes at Pennsylvania College of Technology for two years. He retired from PPL after 35 years of service and purchased and maintained four rental properties beginning in 1983. Skip enjoyed Penn State wrestling, Baltimore Ravens football, gardening, working on cars and hunting. He was a member of a hunting club. He also enjoyed woodworking until 2019 and loved to tinker in his garage and workshop. Prior to the birth of their children, Marci and Kelly, Skip and Karen owned and rode two Harley Davidson motorcycles. Skip coached Williamsport Elementary wrestling for nine years and Old Lycoming girls' softball for several years.
Surviving are two sons, Kent Young (Leane), and Steve Young (Lisa Kohler); three daughters, Beth Ann Moore, Marci Griswold (Glenn), and Kelly Ruhl (Jeremy); three grandchildren of the Williamsport area, Lisa Young, Isabelle and Keller Griswold; and 11 distant grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by a sister, Dianna Evers, and a beloved dog, Sly.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
