Betty R. (Fry) Steele

Betty R. Steele, 93, of Williamsport, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the Williamsport Home. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Ralph I. Steele on December 31, 2012.

Born June 10, 1926 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Raymond P. and Clara E. (Losch) Fry.

Betty was a 1943 graduate of Williamsport High school and attended Williamsport Dickinson Seminary College. She worked as the secretary to the superintendent of the Williamsport Area School District. Later, she worked with her husband and son; Randy owning and operating, Ralph’s Meats. Betty was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Women of Messiah. She was also a member of a bowling league at Faxon Lanes and an avid fan of any kind of sports.

Surviving are her children, Randy P. Steele (Cindy) of Williamsport, Gail A. Marshall (Carl) of Henrico, VA and Leslie L. Ellwood of Greensburg; daughter-in-law, Sandra Steele, nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Betty was preceded in death by her son, Mark L. Steele on January 10, 2014.

A memorial service to honor the life of Betty will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, November 16 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 S Howard Street, South Williamsport, with Rev. Joshua L. Reinsburrow officiating. A visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until time of service at Messiah Lutheran Church. Private burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
