Martin Vail Obituary

Martin A. Vail, 68, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at his home.

Born May 18, 1955, in Blossburg, he was a son of the late Anna (Phillips) Palmer and stepson of the late William McMahon, Sr.

Martin graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1973. He later retired from Brodart Co., in 2021 after 22 years of service where he was a Supplies Warehouse Manager. He previously worked at Huffman’s Office Equipment.

Martin had a passion for woodworking and carpentry. He had the remarkable ability to build anything his family needed and often surprised them with creations they never knew they needed. His skillful hands crafted not just objects but also memories that will be cherished for generations to come. Martin was also a former avid bowler; Martin spent many years knocking down pins with his team at Faxon Bowling Lanes.

The love of his life, Deborah K. (Fethers) Vail, survives Martin. Their enduring partnership was the cornerstone of his life, and together they created a legacy of love and family. Martin was a devoted father to his children, Bryon J. Vail (Melanie) and Kristen A. La Rosa (Ernesto), both of Williamsport. His grandchildren, Alex Vail, Jahvon La Rosa, and Camilo La Rosa, brought him immense joy and pride. Also surviving are his two half brothers, Robert W. McMahon (Ruth) and Ronald McMahon, as well as his half-sister, Elizabeth Sponhouse, all of Williamsport.

A memorial service to honor the life of Martin will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27 at Calvary Baptist Church 42 Washington Blvd, Williamsport. A visitation will be held 10 a.m. until time of service at Calvary Baptist Church.
