Robert C. "Bob" Weaver Sr., 83, of Linden, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at his home. Surviving is his wife of 33 years, Norma M. Mahaffey Weaver (Glosser).
Born May 28, 1934, in Elmira, N.Y., he was a son of the late Clinton T. and Esther (Miller) Weaver.
Bob attended Williamsport High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He began as a self-employed paper hanger and painter when he was 12 years old. Bob later retired in 1987 from the Williamsport Bureau of Fire after 21 years of service.
He was a member of Pine Run United Methodist Church, the Democratic Club, and the PA Retired Professional Firefighter Association. He enjoyed woodworking and fixing mostly anything.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Robert C. Weaver Jr. (Irenay), of Montoursville, Ronald A. Weaver (Janet), of North Carolina; three daughters, Leslie A. Hickman (Ron), of Missouri, Susan Houser (Charlie), of Shamokin, and Faith A. Elshof-Weaver (Rose), of Williamsport; two step-daughters, Suzanne Plank (John), of Liberty and Brenda Freezer (Jeff), of Linden; a step-son, Timothy Mahaffey (Cami), of Jersey Shore; a step-daughter-in-law, Lori Mahaffey, of Linden; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joy Hudson, of Williamsport, June Wetzel (Richard), of Williamsport, and Joan Fremberg, of Montoursville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally (Smith) Weaver, a granddaughter, Monica M. Weaver; a step-son, Raymond K. Mahaffey II; and brother-in-law, Victor Fremberg.
A funeral service to honor the life of Bob will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 15 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, with Pastor Richard DeMarte officiating. Burial will follow in Woodward Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to Pine Run United Methodist Church, 1719 Pine Run Road, Linden, PA 17744.
