Richard N. "Rich" Strasburg, 92, of Williamsport, passed away, Thursday, February 9, 2017, at the Williamsport Home.
Surviving is his wife, Phyllis R. (Shumbat) Strasburg.
Born April 16, 1924, in Saginaw, Mich., he was a son of the late Jesse and Hazel (Funk) Strasburg.
Rich attended Lehigh University and was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. Following his military service he was employed at the former AVCO as a Chief Analytical Engineer and retired in 1985 after 36 years of service.
Rich formerly attended Trinity United Methodist Church where he was a 50 year member and First United Methodist Church, Muncy. Rich was the last charter member of the Lycoming Creek Lions Club, past president, Melvin Jones fellow and a lifetime member. After retirement he enjoyed upholstering, stain glass and one stroke painting. He was an avid reader and formerly enjoyed golfing.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Judith E. Gohl (Richard), of Albuquerque, N.M., Patricia L. Dudek (Gregory Wittle), of Mount Joy, and Jessica L. Sciubba, of West Chester; a brother, David Strasburg (Jane), of Williamsport; a sister, Joanne Weidman, of Williamsport, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marian A. (Spotts) Strasburg; a daughter, Susan K. "Susie" Strasburg, and three sisters, Phyllis Smith, Maxine Stryker, and Donna Mae Blanchard.
A funeral service to honor the life of Rich will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 15 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Rich’s name to a charity of donor’s choice.
