While at Mercersburg, he was a good athlete and excelled in swimming. Ralph won the New York State Championship for the backstroke in 1950, setting a new state record.  He was the captain of the life guards at Lake Ontario during summer breaks.

In 1951, Ralph joined the U.S. Marine Corps and just before dispatching to Korea, he injured his knee keeping him from active duty.  He returned to Rochester, married and had three sons.  Ralph remarried "the love of his life", Diane Arlene Myers.

Lucht and grandchildren remain in the business.  Beltone of Williamsport remains strong in our community under Elvira and Anthony Ferraro after 42 years.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Diane and Lila; a son Danny Lucht, daughter JoDee A. Hoffert; his only brother, Bob Lucht and infant great-granddaughters, Serenity Grace and Alayna.
