Paul I. Overdorf, Sr.

August 6, 1924 ~ July 4, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

     Paul I. Overdorf, Sr., 92, of Williamsport, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at UPMC- Susquehanna Williamsport. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 plus years, Mary Ann (Runkle) Overdorf.

     Born August 6, 1924, in Mackeyville, he was a son of the late Percy N. and May E. (Barnard) Overdorf.

     Paul was a Army Veteran serving during World War II. After his service in the military he was employed with the former Stroehmann Bakeries for 35 years. He began working for Frosty Stroehmann and was on a first name basis with the Stroehmann family. While working there he did various jobs including roll baking and was a supervisor.  Paul retired from K-Mart after 27 years of service.

     He attended the Salvation Army for many years.  He had over 10,000 hours of volunteering with the Williamsport Hospital Auxiliary and also volunteered at ManorCare Health Services South. Paul enjoyed putting things together, including model cars that he turned into lamps, tinkering, and mowing the lawn.

     Surviving are a son, the Rev. Paul I. Overdorf, Jr. (Miriam), of South River, NJ, a daughter, Paulette L. Rebstock (Raymond), of Canton, OH, four grandchildren, Katherine, Karen, Timothy, and Christopher, five great-grandchildren, and friend and companion, Erma E. Hutchison, of Williamsport.

     In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Lee Overdorf.

     A memorial service to honor the life of Paul will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22 at the Salvation Army, 457 Market Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.

     Burial will be held private in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.

     In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s name to the Salvation Army, 457 Market Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
