Mary E. (Grove) Thompson

     Mary E. Thompson, 88, of Linden, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at The Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Donald S. Thompson Sr.

     Born Feb. 25, 1929, in Linden, she was a daughter of Watson and Margaret (Panion) Grove. 

     Mary was a member of Bethel Linden Presbyterian Church. She was a member and past treasurer of local chapter No. 47 D.A.V. ladies auxiliary. 

     Mary enjoyed shopping, bingo, classic country music and the many activities at the AristaCare of Loyalsock Nursing Home. 

     She was a homemaker and caregiver to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren throughout her life and whom she greatly treasured. 

     Surviving are five children: Ann Hodge, of Linden, Bonnie J. Worth (Joe), of Linden, Donald S. Thompson Jr. (Mary), of Linden, Steve L. Thompson (Tina), of Jersey Shore, and Connie S. Dawes (Dave), of Montoursville; 15 grandchildren: Lisa Chambers, Kim Kauffman, Tina Baity, Tiffany and Susan Rowles, Joel and Christian Worth, Jason and Jeremy Thompson, Megan Kulp, Bree Wert, Carly and Watson Thompson, Sondra and Lauren Dawes; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren;, a sister-in-law Betty Weber, of Muncie, Indiana, and first cousin, Robert and Shirley Grove, of Williamsport. 

     In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Sheldon Grove.

     A funeral service to honor the life of Mary will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 14, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport. Burial will follow in Salladasburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Knight Confer Funeral Home and from 10:30-11 a.m. Thursday.

     The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions in Mary's name be made to Bethel Linden Presbyterian Church, 2758 Bottle Run Road, Linden, PA 17744 or Susquehanna Health Foundation c/o The Gatehouse 1001 Grampian Blvd. Williamsport, PA 17701.
