Helen L. Packard, 84, of Montoursville, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at AristaCare at Loyalsock. Surviving is her husband of 65 years, H. Wayne Packard.
Born Dec. 24, 1932, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Harold L. and Hilda R. (Confair) Miller-Royer.
Helen was a 1950 graduate of Williamsport High School and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She was formerly employed at Western Union for 21.5 years and retired from the Department of Public Assistance after another 21 years.
She was the first woman in the press box at Bucknell University and the Little League World Series. Helen was an excellent cook and baker, she made delicious pies, Easter eggs and apple dumplings.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Timothy W. Packard (Connie), of Montoursville and a granddaughter, Lindsey J. Packard.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Neff.
A memorial service to honor the life of Helen will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 11 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 844 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with the Rev. Kenneth E. Wagner-Pizza and the Rev. Jeffrey A. Packard co-officiating. The family will received friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church.
