Esther M. (Lukens) Baker

     Esther M. "Chip" Baker, 76, of Williamsport, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital.

     Born Feb. 6, 1941, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late William Thompson and Esther Mae (Stetts) Lukens.

     Chip was a former member of High Street United Methodist Church and Faith Alliance Church. 

     She was formerly employed at Katrina’s Sewing Factory, Cobblers Ladies Shoe Outlet, Fashion Bug, Mr. Donut, and waitressed at various restaurants.

     She enjoyed crafts, flower arranging, and was an excellent cook and baker and loved sharing her baked goods with others. Chip was known for her overflowing personality, she cherished getting to know everyone she met during her walk through life.  

     Surviving are a son, David C. Baker (Kristen), of Williamsport; a brother, Ronnie Lukens, of Williamsport; five sisters, Ann Romans, of Grove City, Ohio, Connie Harstead, of Williamsport, Becky Farroux (Richard), of Jeannette, Maxine Lopez (Lupe), of Indianpolis, Ind., and Barbara DeCoursey (Dan Lockcuff), of Trout Run; and several nieces and nephews.

      In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, William T. Lukens and a sister, Viola Lukens.

     A memorial service to honor the life of Esther will be held 7 p.m. Friday, November 3, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.

     Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Wildwood Cemetery. 

     In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Esther’s name to Susquehanna Health Foundation, c/o the Gatehouse 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
