Ellsworth Robert "Bob" Vollmer, Jr. 85, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 at UPMC Williamsport Hospital, with his family at his side.
Born October 14, 1932 in Williamsport, he was a son of Ellsworth, Sr. and Grace (Sarvey) Vollmer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Donald Vollmer.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Lundy Lumber and Your Building Center after 34 years. Bob was a member of the VFW Post #7683 Duboistown, and he enjoyed woodworking and carpentry and helping anyone with a project. He enjoyed playing his organ, listening to music, especially organ and polka music, and taking rides in 1971 Ford LTD convertible.
Surviving are his wife Kay F. (Chilson) Vollmer, two sons Ronald Harter of Florida, and Robert Vollmer (Robin) of Williamsport, two daughters Carol Stidfole (Robert) of Montoursville, and Holly Vollmer of Williamsport, three grandchildren Cathy Clark, Robert Vollmer, II, and Ronald Harter, III, four great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and two sisters Helen Forney (Ed) of Kenneth Square, and Charlotte Clemons (William) of Williamsport.
A funeral service to honor the life of Ellsworth will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home 1914 Memorial Ave. Williamsport.
Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, with military honors accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Monday at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
