Douglas P. Sabins

July 9, 1964 ~ November 25, 2017 (age 53) 53 Years Old

Douglas P. Sabins, 53, of Montgomery, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017.


Born July 9, 1964, in Wayland, New York, Doug graduated from Keuka College and served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired as a supervisory detention deportation officer from Immigration Custom Enforcement (ICE) after 20 years of service. 


Doug had a passion for fitness and great pride for his country. His second home was working out at the gym where he often could be found with his family. He completed several half marathons, tri-athlons, Iron-man challenges, and the Hyner Challenge. He loved any event he could participate in with his wife and kids by his side. Family trips will be cherished memories, especially family cruises and time spent traveling. 


He leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Kimberly M. (Malone) Sabins, as well as his three children, Jennifer R. Sabins, Danielle E. Sabins, and Joshua D. Sabins; his mother, Helen (Harold) Standbrook; four brothers, David Sabins, Bob (Donna) Sabins, Jeff (Lacey) Sabins, LeRoy Young; two sisters, Sandy Sabins and Dawn (John) Briglin; two sister-in-laws, Marilyn Spall, Dawn (Bill) Andrea; and many nieces and nephews. 


Doug was preceded in death by his father Floyd Sabins; and two brothers, Greg Young and Floyd Sabins Jr. 


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Doug's name to L.A.P.S., 195 Phillips Park Drive, Williamsport, PA 17702 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. 


At his request no services will be held.  


If you would like to honor his memory, brush off your sneakers, pick up a sand bag and go for a run in his name. He would have loved to know you honored him like that.


One of his favorite sayings was: "If it's important to you, you will find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse."
