Carl L. "Bud" Balzer, Jr.

     Carl L. "Bud" Balzer Jr., 74, of Linden, died peacefully at home watching "his" deer on Tuesday, August 8, 2017.

     Born Nov. 18, 1942, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Carl L. Balzer Sr. and Helen G. (Updegraff) Balzer.

     Bud was a 1960 graduate of Williamsport Area High School and was an U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. Following his service in the Army he was employed at the former AVCO, Textron-Lycoming for over 30 years. Most recently he was employed in security for Gas Well Services (GWS).
He was a life member of American Legion Post No. 251, Montgomery, Democratic Club, and Republican League. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 214 Jersey Shore. Bud was an expert in puttering around his house, doing anything outside, and he enjoyed reading, and watching old western movies. He loved being with his family and with his dogs, Mack and Dixie.

    Surviving are his wife Judy (Alexander) Balzer, who he married Oct. 13, 1984;  a son, Joe Alexander Kyle (Spring); a daughter, Ellie Jane Hubbard (David); a brother, Thomas E. Balzer (Betty), of Duboistown; a sister, Jane L. Adams-Delp, of Williamsport; and eight grandchildren, G. Alexander Kyle, Mamie "Anna" Kyle, Morgan, Logan, and Karrigan Weber, Grace, Carolynn, and David-Paul Hubbard.

     A funeral service to honor the life of Carl will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 12,  at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, with his cousin the Rev. John E. Charnock Jr. and Pastor Mark A. Beard co-officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.

     Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Steam Valley Cemetery.

     In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bud's name to Steam Valley Cemetery Association c/o Al Cook treasurer 1998 Steam Valley Road, Trout Run, PA 17771 or the Central PA Food Bank, 3301 Wahoo Drive, Williamsport, PA 17701. www.centralpafoodbank.org.
